Abstract

Modern defense and security operations of any country requires rapid, accurate and remote detection of hazardous or dangerous substance like bomb, explosives etc. to ensure human safety. Earlier the traditional technique to detect suspicious substance and risk able substance take lot of time to identify. In the current time this work can be done effectively in less time with the help of spectrodrones – unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) equipped with advanced spectroscopic and sensor technologies – has created an effective solution for chemical, biological, radiological, explosive and nuclear detection[1][2]. This review paper discusses the concept, architecture, working methodology and defense applications of spectrodrone. It also highlights the role of artificial intelligence, advantages, limitations, and future research directions in the domain.
